This June the 'Climate Emergency in Macaronesia' Conference of the European Mac-Clima Project was held. The technical coordinator of Energy Development, Energy Sovereignty, Climate and Knowledge, Raúl García Brink, explained that the telematic sessions were held in three sessions in which 450 participants joined, exceeding the organization's own expectations. The Mac-Clima Project led by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria is a strategy that brings together transversal efforts of institutions from the Canary Islands -El Hierro, Lanzarote, Tenerife-, Madeira, Cape Verde, Mauritania and Senegal for the creation of the Climate Observatory for Macaronesia. They have the collaboration of the Aemet, the Canary Islands Technological Institute, as well as the Institute of Oceanography and Global Change and the TIDES Institute of the ULPGC, to which the Secretary of State for the Environment joins. Dolores Pérez, researcher at the Institute of Oceanography and Global Change of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, gave the talk 'Sustained rise in ocean temperature in the Canary Islands Basin' which concludes that the sea level of the Canary Islands Ocean Basin has risen 21 centimeters in the last century.
The data available for the Canary Basin shows that the water temperature has risen 0.3 degrees in the last 60 years from the surface to 2,000 meters deep, at a rate of 0.07 degrees per decade since the nineties, which has resulted in the sea rising by 21 centimeters. The data obtained by satellite reflect that it has risen in open sea areas from 0.03 to 0.21 degrees per decade, while in the areas closest to Africa the temperature has not increased thanks to the upwelling of deep waters. Javier Arístegui, researcher at the University of Las Palmas de WhatsApp Number List Gran Canaria, presented the presentation 'Ocean-based solutions to remove CO2' and highlighted that given the vulnerability and risks facing the planet, in addition to the high cost it will entail for countries , the only solution to achieve net zero emissions in the second half of this century is to combine the drastic reduction of emissions with the capture of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the same proportion as they are generated. Global warming will be reduced if this balance is achieved and maintained over time, he asserted. The Mercado del Puerto recovers normality in its gastronomic area Port Market Port Market The capacity level is maintained by occupying more space both inside and outside the building.

The president of the Mercado del Puerto, José Rojas, explained that businesses dedicated to restaurants have applied all control measures due to the COVID19 pandemic and have recovered their nighttime activity. José Rojas took the opportunity to make a call to activate local commerce and gastronomy, to be able to face the economic inactivity that locals have had to suffer during the State of Alarm. Although in the first weeks only food businesses could be opened as essential services, adding a new home delivery service, as we have progressed in the de-escalation, restaurant establishments have been incorporated. The expansion of spaces for the location of tables and chairs, both inside and on the terrace area, guarantees that the same capacity can be recovered while complying with the distancing measures required by regulations. The Mercado del Puerto was the first food market in the Canary Islands to add gastronomy to its offer, thus becoming the first gastromarket on the islands. It is also a building of Cultural Interest as an example of modernist architecture in wrought iron. Here you can find the freshest products and a variety of services, along with the most varied gastronomic offer seasoned with an endless number of cultural activities: live music, vinyl DJs, markets, festivals..., and all in an incomparable setting, at a step from Playa de las Canteras.
